Our Philosophy
Our Aim
To provide a high quality service to the families, carer, children and the community we service.
Explanation
Early Childhood is a time when there is great potential for children’s development. Therefore, to maximise their developmental learning and experiences while they attend our centre, we aim to provide a learning environment where staff, children and their families feel comfortable. It is also a place where parents and staff work in partnership with our community to provide a quality service.
Parents and Caregivers
Parents or caregivers role in their child’s education is highly valued and welcomed. We acknowledge the essential role parents play in the lives of their children and we endeavour to facilitate an active partnership with them. Parents/caregivers have many skills and ideas that can enrich their child’s education and the Centre. As a result, we encourage the contribution of their time, talents, assistance on excursions, attendance at activities at the Pre-school, as committee members and where they are comfortable to input into the planning with our teaching programs. Parents/caregivers provide valuable feedback and are encouraged to participate in our evaluation process.
Children
Play is a vital aspect of a child’s Pre-School program because we believe that children learn through play. As a result children must be given the opportunity to explore and experiment with a variety of developmentally appropriate activities. This will help them to develop and understand themselves and their community. Children are to be given the opportunity to make choices and experience new challenges. Children are encouraged and supported towards self-reliance, the development of positive self-esteem and responsible behaviour. Children have the right to feel safe and secure. We have the responsibility for providing a safe environment for them.
Committee
Committee members to demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times. The Committee should review and evaluate the centre’s policies and practices. Committee supports in-servicing for staff. Committee members work as part of a team with staff, committee and other parents to provide quality care.
Staff
Staff to demonstrate integrity, high personal standards and maintain confidentiality at all times. Staff are unique individuals who bring a wide range of experiences and skills to the centre that need to be fully utilised. Their diversity means they bring their own values and attitudes that need to be respected and valued. It is important for Primary Contact staff to provide a happy and safe learning environment where each child is accepted as an individual and genuinely valued. Children learn through play and a variety of developmentally appropriate activities will be provided to assist the development of each child’s personal, social, emotional, cognitive, language, creativity, and aesthetic awareness, gross and fine motor skills. This is achieved through individualised programs. Staff work as part of a team with committee, parents and colleagues to provide quality care. The staff’s role is to be advocates for the children who attend the centre and for their parents.
Community
The Pre-school reflects community values, supports community needs and enhances the life of community members.
